Edgar Degas

Along with Monet, Edgar Degas is one of the fathers of impressionism in France, whether as a painter, engraver, sculptor or photographer. Since he did not need to sell his pieces in order to earn a living, he worked without being ordered on his favorite themes: contemporary portrayals, horse races, café scenes, world of entertainment and in particular the world of ballet that turned into his principal artistic subject matter. Regarding sculpture, Degas created his models from wax or earth on which he was not afraid to add other materials (tulle, ribbons, etc.). Later, after he died, they would be used to create the famous bronzes.
