Vincent Van Gogh

The Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh gave up school at 16 after years of chaotic results. In 1886, he decided to dedicate his life to painting before joining his brother Théo in Paris. He entered the famous Cormon workshop, frequented by Toulouse-Lautrec. In 1888, Vincent Van Gogh moved to Arles and worked with Paul Gauguin, with whom he became quite close but their friendship did not last long. This was the famous episode of his cutting off his ear, which revealed an undoubtable derangement. He worked and painted until exhaustion. The hospice of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence admitted the painter in May 1889. Thirteen month later, on the 29th of July, he committed suicide in Auvers sur Oise. At the end of his life, the artist was the author of 879 known pieces of art.
