Gio Ponti

Giovanni Ponti, known as Gio (Milan, November 18, 1891 - Milan, September 16, 1979), is considered one of the masters of Italian architecture, but he was also one of the most important designers and essayists of the 20th century. In addition to the great works of architecture that bear his unmistakable signature, he also produced a large number of furnishings, as evidenced by his three Milanese homes, entirely decorated "à la Ponti": Via Randaccio in 1925, Casa Laporte in Via Brin in 1926, and the last one in Via Dezza in 1957, a "manifesto" of his domestic design. Gio Ponti, promoter of Italian industrial design, proposed mass production in interior design as a "sophisticated", economical, "democratic" and modern solution. More details
