Official catalogue Jacques Chirac Exhibition
We have Jacques Chirac to thanks for the wonderful Quai Branly museum on the Left Bank. Its great jardin (and giant planted wall) has flourished Son, Jean Nouvel's building is still as astonishing as ever and the temporary exhibitions are generally extremely interesting.
This new exhibition has 150 pieces from public and private collections in France and abroad, spread over 60 key dates related to big event in history, culture and Chirac's life.
You'll see how any art from outside the west was only belatedly appreciated - it took until the 90s for things start to changing appreciably, and Chirac went on to deliver a speech at UNESCO in 2001 in favour of cultural diversity.
