Africa of roads
The exhibition wants to portray the panorama of a continent at the crossroads of worlds, against the current of preconceived notions. For a long time, Panafrican and extra-African exchanges began colonization and the arrival of the first Portuguese ships at the end of the 15th century. It is by roads, whether maritime, fluvial or terrestrial, that Africa has become known to other parts of the world. The exhibition tells 5000 years of history of this continent. The works of art thus show the exchanges, the circulation of ideas, materials and works.
The ambition of the exhibition is considerable, as many civilizations have flourished in Africa and have since disappeared. Engraved tanks from the Oued Djerat du Sahara to the Chinese porcelains of Madagascar, candombled cults and rituals from South America to contemporary Nigerian works Yinka Shonibare, Beaux Arts editions portrays a continent in the heart of the " Global history.
