My architect's furniture
Sense and Essence
Published for the exhibition "Jean Nouvel, my furniture architect. Sens et essence "presented at the Museum of Decorative Arts, from October 27, 2016 to February 12, 2017, this work unveils more than 30 years of furnitures and objects. Jean Nouvel's creations are most often conceived in close connection with his architectural work, and correspond to a personal desire for experimentation rather than to orders. This radical corpus provides a more intimate aspect of the thought and work of the architect, Pritzker Prize 2008.
This work entirely conceived by Jean Nouvel under the direction of Odile Fillion proposes unpublished texts. In his introductory text "Sense and essence, the architect writes:" I have always regarded furniture and objects as small architectures (...) of pocket architectures. However, for small and large architecture, the conceptual obsession remains the same: to make sense and sensible. And yet it is true, dimension changes everything. I want to clarify this difference for you, but also for me. "
