Description

Legendary Finnish designer Oiva Toikka's iconic collection of Iittala glass birds combine his passion for nature and blown glass art. Created in close collaboration with the glassblowers, Birds by Toikka took flight in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory. In 2014 the production of the series was transferred to the Iittala Glass Factory, where Toikka continued his close partnership with the team. Each bird is a unique art object. Handcrafted and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory, the collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions. Iittala brings a familiar gentleman back to the flock in a new softer sand colour. Birds by Toikka Butler brings cordial charm with his dapper dinner jacket and tails, prominent beak and sleek tuft of hair. Classic stripes accentuate his prim posture. Pairs beautifully with his colleague, the Waiter.
