Sold by Mucem MuseumMucem
Description
This issue is the synthesis of a collective project on the social meanings of leftovers and waste carried out since 2011 at the EHESS and the MuCEM within the framework of various scientific meetings, synchronized with the preparation of the exhibition "Vies d'Ordures! "planned for 2017 at the MuCEM.The question of remains is considered here as one of the repressed faces of our societies.
This issue provides a varied international overview of research on this issue to orientate ourselves in the face of alarmist discourse or technicist utopias:
From the geography of the crown of garbage satellites around our planet to an ethnography of the sixth continent of plastics, via a symbolic anthropology of household or "anatomical" waste or the presentation of various social and technical innovations responding to the excesses of modern societies.
In this new format of the journal, the writings of the human sciences are presented in different forms of writing, brief and illustrated in this printed version, or more extensive and reticulated in the online version.
