Bilingual document : reserves & collections, an other Mucem

Description

The Mucem - Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations - inherited the collections gathered by the former National Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions (MnATP), created in 1937 by Georges Henri Rivière.

But what has become of these collections, now dormant in the Mucem's reserves? Following residencies and preparatory workshops, artists and researchers are proposing an original activation of the collection. The exhibition Document bilingue and the accompanying catalogue question the status of these objects between popular art and scientific discourse, between ethnography and aesthetics.
