Description

Is a museum only as good as the collections it houses? With its audacious structure and unique location at the meeting of the Rhône and Saône rivers, the Confluences Museum undoubtedly attracts the eye and gives rise to many interpretations. So, rather than entering it and diving into the multitude of objects on display, Pierric Bailly chose to investigate its surroundings and to interview those who frequent it in order to account for the various existences that gravitate daily around it without necessarily entering it: amateur dancers, skateboarders, lovers, volunteers from charitable associations or simple walkers...
Through these improvised encounters, Pierric Bailly multiplies the points of view on this extraordinary architecture which, beyond the building, structures the entire space around it, giving new life to a once industrial and then abandoned neighborhood.

A deeply human text, which probes the layers of history and geography of a city and offers a touching reflection on the porosity of a place with its environment, revealing an unexpected museum function.

Born in 1982 in Champagnole, in the Jura, Pierric Bailly grew up in a small village lost in the middle of the woods, not far from Clairvaux-les-Lacs. After brief film studies in Montpellier, he multiplied his work experiences in temporary work, in industry, construction and mass distribution. He lived successively in the Paris region, in Grenoble, in Nîmes, before settling in Lyon with his wife and children. He is the author of six books published by P.O.L, including L'Homme des bois in 2017 and Le Roman de Jim in 2021.
