Description

LAB619 is a Tunisian collective of illustrators and scriptwriters of comics born after the Jasmine revolution from the desire to create a comic magazine for adults in which to explore new graphic styles and express themselves without constraint. Migrations is a special issue born from a residency organized in Tunis and entitled. Drawing exile during which twelve authors from different Arab countries were invited to address migration and asylum from personal testimonies and real life stories.
Through ten eclectic visual narratives, both in their graphic style and their point of view on the subject, they deliver a nuanced and powerful message, sensitive as much as analytical, which bears witness to contemporary exodus and questions the role of a country where emigration and immigration intersect. By translating them from Arabic, Alifbata wishes to make discover new views of authors from the south and east of the Mediterranean on a subject still relevant today.
