As The Thinker and The Kiss, The Crouching Woman was a figure of the tympanum of the Gates of Hell, a bronze portal imagined for the Decorative Arts Museum but never realized.
The Gates of Enfe depicts episodes from the Divine Comedy of Dante. Developed largely between 1880 and 1890, the Gate will feed the reflection of the sculptor until his death.
