Composition with large red, yellow, black, gray and blue plan (1921)
This composition is one of the major works of what Mondrian called neoplasticism.
In 1920, Mondrian published "Neoplasticism", a book in which he attempts to clarify his ideas theoretically, based on his art that he described as "neoplastic", object of previous publications in the famous magazine De Stijl.
The "Composition with Great Red Plan ..." shows a relatively large number of brightly colored shots. Gradually, the artist abandons colors, seeking perfection in rhythm and balance.
