Description

This second volume of the "Louisiana" trilogy continues the saga of a planter family in the American South in the 19th century. After the death of Augustin, the tyrannical boss of the estate, his widow tries to take control of her destiny, despite the conflicts that oppose her son who has returned from Europe and her daughter with progressive ideas. This chapter once again highlights the violence of a male-dominated society against a backdrop of racism symbolized by slavery, on the eve of the Civil War that will shatter this model. Thanks to a powerful script by Léa Chrétien, inspired by a true story, we discover the sometimes unmentionable secrets of a torn family that sometimes evokes the films "The Color Purple" and "The Color of Feelings" or Faulkner's novel, "The Sound and the Fury".
