Description

In the north of the great Australian deserts, elders confide in anthropologist Barbara Glowczewski their spiritual attachment to the land, the sufferings of their people and their survival strategies. With them, we are carried along by the anger and the message of the spirits who link their dreams and their rites to all the elements of the universe. We discover the drawings so characteristic, inscribed on the bodies, the rock and the works of art, which translate the living matrix of the alliances that the humans establish between them and the cosmos.
But the earth is now threatened with death by a humanity ignorant of the great laws of balance. For nearly forty years, the author has dedicated her life to the Aborigines of Australia. She dialogues with the Warlpiri, Yawuru, Ngarinyin, and Yolngu, whose practices, knowledge, and thought respond to the great study of the human spirit and its relationship to matter.
