Description

Birds by Toikka, Finnish design visionary Oiva Toikka's iconic collection of glass birds, took flight in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory. Created in close collaboration with the glassblowers, the collection combined Toikka's passion for nature and blown glass art. In 2014 the production of the series was transferred to the Iittala Glass Factory, where Toikka continued his close partnership with the team. Each handcrafted and mouthblown bird is a truly one of a kind art object. Iittala's relaunch of the original Flycatcher from the 1970's features a nest of small, colourful birds that are all a unique miracle of glass. The elegant body in vibrant salmon pink and beak in blue glass reflects light beautifully. A lovely home decoration that makes a precious gift.
