Created in 1911 by Narcisse Villet in the heart of the French Jura, in Moirans-en-Montagne, the Vilac company perpetuates a long regional tradition, that of turned and lacquered wooden toys. The history of the company, which began as a family business, has followed the twists and turns of a century that has seen a succession of crises, market changes, the impact of competition and relocations. Today, without losing the style and spirit that have forged its identity for a hundred years, Vilac has succeeded in imposing itself throughout the world by cultivating a love of beauty with audacity and by taking care of the design of its creations. This book presents more than three hundred toys from 1910 to today. We find the traditional bowling games, bibis and whistles, the unavoidable animals with wheels with Yabon the frog, Roxy the dachshund, Bob the alligator and Rosy the cow, the famous multicolored bangers, musical instruments and theaters of the world, the heroes of childhood Mickey, Snoopy, Babar and Elmer, but also the toys of artists such as Benjamin Rabier, Keith Haring or Hervé Di Rosa.
