SOLD INDIVIDUALLY The Karawan collection of hammam trays and bowls is handcrafted in a workshop in Delhi's Old Bazaar. They are crafted in multiple operations from a sheet of brass, an alloy of copper and zinc. For 5 generations, the KAMAL family has been passing on and developing this know-how, which involves several manual stages. The workshop is founded on a solid family alliance. Both traditional and innovative, this family has been able to adapt and develop working conditions while preserving traditional craftsmanship. In the old bazaar of Chandni Chok, they are among the last to use this handmade knowledge, in the face of semi-industrialization using mold-filling chains. Each successive stage corresponds to a trade: "The planer shapes the brass sheets by hammering, using forging techniques. The "tourneur repousseur" shapes the bowls using a lathe; the "ciseleur" creates details and ornaments on the object. The polisher takes care of the finishing touches.
