Description

The AAM AASTHA (shared beliefs) photographic project is a continuation of Charles Fréger's series on masquerades around the world: Wilder Mann (since 2010), Yokainoshima (2013-2015), Bretonnes (2015) and Cimarron (2014-2018). Interested in the Ramayana - the founding epic of Hinduism - the photographer travelled to India to discover an ever-expanding pantheon of some 300 million figures, embodied in ritual and sacred performances in temples, theatres and streets.
