Description

An unclassifiable creator, Ettore Sottsass (1917 - 2007) dreamt of being a painter and sculptor before becoming an architect. But it was above all in the field of design that he made his name: he designed the very first European computer, invented a new vocabulary for ceramics and glass... and at the age of 65, he became the embodiment of the new avant-garde of the 1980s with the creation of the Memphis group and its colourful furniture with lines that are still cult today. His (re)leaping career, between architecture and design, industry and craft, poetry and metaphysics, has left a unique and lasting mark on the twentieth century.
