Description

Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999), an architect and furniture designer who was a major figure in the history of modernism, devoted her life to the art of living. Although she shared the ideas of Le Corbusier, with whom she worked for a long time, she nevertheless developed her own vision, asserting her status as a designer in a world of designers. Sensitive to the cause of women and the plight of the underprivileged, she set out to make beautiful, useful and functional objects accessible to as many people as possible, objects that have become icons of 20th-century design. This book gives an insight, through images and a short introduction, into the extraordinary work and career of this free and independent woman, whose committed approach is more relevant than ever.
