Description

"Fetishes are neither pure human fabrications, nor independent and free beings [...] they ensure the passage from one state to another, from one time to another, they are our intermediaries. We all need these objects, neither gods, nor living beings, nor things. Without knowing it, we are all Egyptians.

Surrounded by his two brothers, the Thin One and the Powerful One, a young child lives in a house with his cuddly toy Felix who helps and reassures him. But events that the child misunderstands and that seem to be linked to the presence of strangers, plunge him into an increasingly palpable anxiety. The threat will take unexpected forms against which the child will try to defend himself. In the end, he will have to accept a very strange pact to ensure his salvation.

Written as a tale in which Egyptian myths are updated, this text tells, from the point of view of a child, what is at stake in the relationship we have with cuddly toys and fetishes. In this enigmatic tale, the reader will find some of the themes that nourish Olivia Rosenthal's work: abandonment, fear and the mechanisms put into play in childhood to survive in a hostile environment.
