Drawing Set - Graphite Pencils and Charcoal
Jean-Baptiste Greuze - Childhood Illuminated
Description
This set is a drawing essential, containing 2 graphite pencils, 1 compressed charcoal stick, 1 stump, 1 tortillon and 1 eraser.
The graphite lead is particularly smooth, does not scratch the paper and glides over the surface.
In 1794, Nicolas Jacques Conté developed the modern graphite lead, composed of a mixture of clay and graphite, which finally made it possible to grade the hardness of the lead. The pencils he created in 1795 enabled France to produce its own writing and drawing products.
It is recommended for meticulous and precise work, whether it be constructing a sophisticated perspective, a comic book character, or even a flawlessly constructed nude.
Charcoal pencils produce a dry, dense, intense black finish. Their unique feature is that they do not break, making them easy to transport.
Smudging and tortillon tools can be used to soften pastel or pencil lines in a very localised manner on the drawing, just like using your fingers.
