Giono (VF)
This book, catalog of the exhibition "Giono" presented at the Mucem from October 30, 2019 to February 17, 2020, offers a visual and literary account that, far from the sometimes simplified image of the Provençal writer, follows the path of his written and filmed work by giving it back its darkness, its nerve and its universality. Giono, a poet who returned from the mass graves of the First World War, was as much concerned with describing the depth of evil as with finding its antidotes: creation, work, pacifism, friendship with painters, refuge in nature, escape into the imagination. To give flesh to one of the most prolific artists of the twentieth century, manuscripts, family and administrative archives, photographic reports, press, workbooks and annotated scripts dialogue here with texts of contemporary authors who express their admiration and their attachment to the works of the writer.
