Kharmohra - l'Afghanistan au risque de l'art

This catalogue accompanies the exhibition "Kharmohra" which will be held at Mucem from 21 November 2019. For forty years, Afghanistan has been living at the rhythm of wars, destruction of its heritage, attacks and migrations. In recent years, international programmes for creation have been set up and young Afghan artists have returned from exile. Self-taught or trained in countries of migration, these artists seem to be on the threshold of all possibilities, with no heritage to assume, nor classicism to break with. This book presents this contemporary creation. It explores a wide variety of forms and media to express the horror of the attacks and the omnipresence of death in an urban space that has become hostile.
