Birth of a legend The famous Napoleon candy was born in the workshop of a baker, Louis Janssens, near Antwerp in 1912. The name of this delicious candy comes from a conversation that Louis Janssens allegedly had with another baker. He had called his candy CESAR. Louis said, "In this case, I'll call my candy 'Napoleon'" and that's how Napoleon was born! The company is growing At first, the Napoleon candy enjoyed a local, then national reputation. The small workshop soon became too narrow and manufacturing was moved to a factory near Antwerp in 1933. A Dutch family bought the business in 1973.
