Description

For 20 years, Bruno Cirla and Christophe Feraud have been identifying and collecting toys produced in Marseille from the end of the 19th century to the late 1970s. A collection that reflects national production trends and reconstructs the network underlying local production.

As a witness to an era, the toy documents both the economic context and the social and cultural imprint governing its production.

Through a selection of emblematic pieces from the exhibition, the richly illustrated book takes a playful route that invites reminiscence. It brings together optical and mechanical toys and restores artisanal know-how and technical progress, in a case whose form reactivates the youthful enthusiasm of browsing through a toy catalogue.
