Description

The catalogue of the exhibition "Après Babel, traduire" (MuCEM, 13 December 2016 to 20 March 2017) articulates two strong ideas. One refers to a historical fact: translation is one of the essential characteristics of Mediterranean civilisation. The other is a contemporary political issue: translation, as a know-how with differences, is a relevant model for understanding today's citizenship.
These ideas will be discussed in a "red thread" written by the curator of the exhibition, Barbara Cassin, which runs throughout the book, opposite or alongside the various contributions.
