Description

In 2012, in the heart of Lyon, a woman died suddenly after being struck by a young boy on a motocross bike who was performing urban stunts at 80km/h. Ten years later, her son, who has been haunted by the tragedy ever since, has become a journalist. He observes how this kind of catastrophe is used on a daily basis to divide society and pit one section of public opinion against another. He decides to delve back into the complexity of this accident and set out on the trail of the motorcyclist to understand where he came from, what his background was and how such an event was made possible. By dissecting this family tragedy, Paul Gasnier reveals two destinies that unfold in parallel, in the same city, and which are unaware of each other until the day they collide violently. It is also the story of two families, each of which reflects the evolution of the country. A narrative in the form of a literary investigation that explores the strength of our convictions when reality undermines them, and the collective failings that create the irreparable.
