Les gens de Paris 1926-1936 : Dans le miroir des recensements de population
Description
Although the population of Paris has been counted many times since the mid-19th century, only four complete lists of names have survived: those from 1926, 1931, 1936 and 1946. This exceptional material, along with other statistical sources, has been analysed using artificial intelligence to provide us with a unique overview of who the Parisians were between 1926 and 1936, in all their diversity, their origins and their daily lives. Enriched by a wealth of illustrations (photographs, paintings, objects, maps, posters, magazines), the book addresses themes such as origins, Parisian neighbourhoods (chic neighbourhoods and social housing), employment issues (unemployment or new professions), family structures, public policies (birth rates or hygiene), etc. These themes are illustrated by original infographics and short biographies of famous and anonymous individuals whose life stories embody this vast panorama.
