Description

During a residency at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, artist Guénaëlle de Carbonnières brought archives buried in the photographic collections back to life. Whether it be Franck's book-object, which documents the destruction of the 1870-1871 war in Île-de-France, or photographs of the Near and Middle East, she uses these images from the past as a matrix that she manipulates and experiments with, questioning us on the theme of architectural and heritage disappearance. More broadly, the work of Guénaëlle de Carbonnières, several series of which are presented in this album, is a reflection on the photographic medium and its fragility, raising the sensitive question of the passage of time.
