Description
The catalogue of the eponymous exhibition offers readers a contemporary and multifaceted perspective on Mediterranean motherhood, combining cultural representations with historical approaches, as well as political, social, and artistic issues.
All texts and contributions are guided by a single editorial approach, structured around a central question: between idealization and emancipation, how do the multiple faces of motherhood in the Mediterranean reveal the cultural and political issues embodied by mothers? In-depth essays, thematic articles, literary narratives, and poetic inserts seek to address this question. The written content engages in dialogue with reproductions of artworks and iconographic documents from the Mucem's collections, partner institutions, and contemporary creation. Together, they aim to portray motherhood in all its diversity-from the mothers of rappers from "planet Mars" to mothers who are victims of femicide.
A catalogue conceived as a reflection of the exhibition's exceptionally rich narrative journey.
