Description

A Ghanaian artist and preacher better known as Almighty God, Kwame Akoto (born in 1950 in Kumasi) has been developing his artistic practice alongside his work as a sign painter since the early 1970s. This prolific body of work blends spiritual messages, self-portraits, portraits of celebrities, and scenes of daily life in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region where he lives. With a mastery of typography and a precise sense of phrasing and imagery, the artist thanks "Almighty God" for the blessings He bestows-notably humanity, nature, and food-and preaches against demonic temptations such as witchcraft, paganism, and cigarettes, the number one public enemy.
